Dearborn's 19th District Court manages a caseload of more than 75,000 cases annually, overseen by three judges, elected independently on non-partisan ballots for terms of six years.

The Judges of the 19th District Court have exclusive jurisdiction over various types of cases. They preside over civil cases involving disputes with an amount in dispute less than $25,000. Additionally, they handle all parking and moving traffic violations that occur within the City of Dearborn.

In terms of misdemeanors, the court has jurisdiction over cases where the penalty does not exceed a fine of $1,000 and/or one year in jail. This category includes offenses such as shoplifting, assault and battery, possession of firearms, minor drug violations, drunk driving (DUI or OWI), and reckless driving.

When it comes to felonies, the 19th District Court also plays a crucial role in arraignments, conducting preliminary examinations, and setting bail in felony cases where the potential punishment exceeds one year in jail. This ensures a fair and thorough process for serious criminal charges.

Furthermore, the court addresses landlord/tenant disputes, including cases involving non-payment of rent or eviction. It also handles land contract or mortgage forfeitures. This allows for the resolution of housing-related disputes within the jurisdiction of the court.

The 19th District Court demonstrates its commitment to justice by overseeing a wide range of cases, ensuring that the legal rights of individuals and businesses are protected and disputes are resolved in a fair and efficient manner.

In addition to fines and/or jail terms, 19th District Judges frequently sentence those convicted to probation. Conditions of probation may include attending a Victim's Impact Panel, rehabilitation, assignment to the Community Work Program, or counseling in such areas as domestic violence or substance abuse.

District judges also are empowered to provide in-house counsel for indigents, officiate at weddings, and to issue search warrants and arrest warrants upon request with cause from the state attorney general, Wayne County prosecutor or Dearborn city attorney.

Randy Babi was absolutely phenomenal! One of the best attorneys out there. Doesn't tell you what you want to hear, but tells you the truth and keeps it real. On top of that, he gets the job done and gives you the best advice and will go full in on it. When this guy says he's a BOSS Attorney he really means it, he got a case dismissed for me when another reputable attorney told me I was getting two points no matter what. Randy went in the prosecuting attorneys office like a boss and came out with a dismissal, Thanks for living up to your name. This man is a LIVING LEGEND!

Mr. Babi just finished a case for my fiancé and we couldn't be more satisfied with the work he did! He fights for his clients, and puts in the work. Whenever my fiancé would be on the phone with him, I thought he was speaking to one of his friends. Very down to earth and gets the job done! I would highly recommend!

I am a family law attorney (and do not handles the same types of matters as Randy), but I know Randy well enough to make this recommendation. I endorse Attorney Randy Babi without hesitation. He knows the law, he cares for his clients, and is very trustworthy. God forbid I ever need his services, but he is one of the first people I would contact if I was in trouble.
