The 44th District Court, located at 400 East Eleven Mile Road in Royal Oak, Michigan, handles cases for both Royal Oak and Berkley. This came about in 2015 when Berkley merged its court with Royal Oak's to save money. Before that, Berkley had its own court.

The Boss Attorney has an office just miles away from the court because of the volume of cases our criminal defense Attorneys have handled at that court. While a vast majority has been drunk driving charges, we have also handled disorderly conduct, assault and battery, drug charges, and all traffic infractions originated from this court.

The court is very busy because both Royal Oak and Berkley have turned into a hotspot for nightlife, as well as trendy restaurants. This makes this area a destination for young adults and others alike. 44th district court in Royal Oak deals with all types of traffic violations, and minor and major crimes from these two cities. Two judges, known for being strict but fair, preside over this court. The prosecutors are well-experienced and don't shy away from advocating for tough punishments.

The 44th District Court begins the process for serious crimes by determining if there's enough evidence to move forward. After that, these cases are moved to the Oakland County Circuit Court for trial. The court handles the initial stages of various serious charges, including drunk driving (third offense), assault with a weapon, identity theft, certain drug-related offenses, and even more serious crimes like sexual assault and murder.

It is important to remember that judges possess significant discretion when determining the appropriate punishment. Without the assistance of competent legal representation, such as our attorneys, there is a risk of inadvertently saying or doing something that could result in increased penalties.

When it comes to minor crimes, you'd typically receive a court summons, asking you to show up in court where they'll tell you what you're being charged with and ask you to plead guilty or not guilty. If you stay quiet, the judge or magistrate will enter a not guilty plea for you. If you admit you're guilty, they might decide your punishment right there and then, or set a date to do that later. If you plead not guilty, you may still be able to resolve the case without going to trial. However, if it doesn't get resolved, then you'd have to go through a trial which could be before a judge or a jury. Every case is different, and things could change depending on what exactly you're being charged with, your past criminal record, and other things related to your case. So, it's always a good idea to get a good lawyer who knows their way around this court.

If you've got a disagreement with someone over something worth up to $25,000, this court will be where it gets sorted out. It also looks after small claims of up to $3,000, problems between landlords and tenants, eviction cases, garnishments, and issues around land contracts and mortgage foreclosure.

On the list of misdemeanors this court deals with are drunk driving, identity theft, assault and battery, disorderly conduct, obstructing a police officer, drug possession, domestic violence, and certain traffic offenses like driving with a suspended license or without a valid license. The court also processes all traffic tickets, whether they're just civil infractions like speeding tickets or failure to yield or more serious misdemeanors.

When this guy says he's a BOSS Attorney he really means it, he got a case dismissed for me when another reputable attorney told me I was getting two points no matter what. Randy went in the prosecuting attorneys office like a boss and came out with a dismissal, Thanks for living up to your name. This man is a LIVING LEGEND!

Mr. Babi just finished a case for my fiancé and we couldn't be more satisfied with the work he did! He fights for his clients, and puts in the work. Whenever my fiancé would be on the phone with him, I thought he was speaking to one of his friends. Very down to earth and gets the job done! I would highly recommend!
